Our client, a global leader in the chemical industry, is seeking a Database Engineer for their international Digital Hub in Madrid. They think the best way forward is to encourage creativity, experiment, and collaborate with talented individuals.
In this position, you will work with a team that focuses on creating and supporting software solutions for environmental, health and safety (EHS) purposes in manufacturing plants. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with a global team at the company, maintaining and updating the operational EHS digital solutions, supporting project work for existing and new solutions, and ensuring the sustainability of the internal product offerings.
Your Responsibilities:
- Act as a Global / Regional representative of their Digital community, supporting the Digital roadmap, helping GDS to identify, execute, and implement customer-centric digital solutions in an actionable and measurable way.
- Leverage expertise in database architecture to design new database solutions as part of new product development projects for the operational EHS portfolio.
- Use skills in Database Administration to support database setup, building/ modifying the architecture based on the need for various solutions in the operational EHS product portfolio.
- Gather requirements through communication with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal and external personnel, including system architects and software developers, to determine project requirements and capabilities, and strategize development and implementation timelines.
- Help team members, especially software developers, understand how to work with the database server, database, and its schema through training and individual support, as well as preparing database queries, stored procedures, views.
- Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.
- Support the implementation and ongoing support of cloud-based databases for internally developed EHS platforms.
Your Profile:
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Expertise in PostgreSQL database design, maintenance, and troubleshooting is mandatory. Of advantage: MongoDB, Cosmos DC, Redis, and others.
- Experience in Agile way of working or agile implementation approach.
- Strong Digital mindset to accelerate Digitalization transformation journey.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable with digital technologies.
- Fluency in English.
- Excellent issue isolation, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
